Voice of the Waves is a documentary exploring the lives of two groups of fisherwomen in Rameshwaram, India, and Jaffna, Sri Lanka, who have lost their husbands and now carry the responsibility of sustaining their families amid challenging ecological, social and economic conditions. Set against the Indian Ocean, the documentary presents a deeply human story of resilience, identity and ecofeminism. The ocean itself becomes a central element of the narrative representing motherhood and strength, but also connection and separation, vulnerability and resilience. Through the experiences of these women, the film examines how human stories and shared struggles can transcend geographical and political boundaries.
